I have had the pleasure of knowing George Smith through our association with soccer(football) for over 10 years. As a keeper coach at Waitakere United during the 2000’s, George stood out for me as by far the best that I have been coached by. I have been coached by the likes of Bruce Grobablaar (ex Liverpool), Gary Bailey (ex Manchester United), Perry Suckling (ex Crystal Palace and currently coaching with the England womans team) plus many many more proven world class keepers and keeper coaches. Let me explain why, I believe that a goal keeper coach is not only responsible for putting on exercises that help keepers (of all ages) improve, but also, he is responsible for getting the best out of his keepers in preparation for match days. George works his keepers to their capabilities and I have had first hand experience of how well he prepares his keepers. Here is one of many examples that spring to mind; During the Waitakere United season of 2005 I was playing with a number of injuries through out the season and George managed to help me get through the season and play all but 2 league games. We won the league and also got to the final of the Oceania champions league. In the final I managed to keep a clean sheet, get man of the match and captain the team to winning the game 1-0. George contributed to my success and the teams that day in no uncertain terms.

He was My man of the match that day.
